Welcome and thank you for taking the time to visit our Web site.
Down at the club house, things have been happening.
"Swinlees" was re-erected to allow the non-DCC trains to be
run again and due to the absence of the HO layout some American stock
as appeared on the tracks.
One evening, 2 members brought down their large collection of trucks and
managed to run a train of 147 vans round one of the tracks and a slightly
short one of baggage vans on the other.
This layout will be dismantled again in the middle of May as it is going
"abroad" in to appear at Middlesbrough MRC's
show (see the side panel and the events page)
Transporting this layout involves quite a few fit members and a large
lorry with a tail lift to move it. The plan will be for the lorry to be
loaded on the Thursday and travel down on the Friday with a return on
the following Monday with the crew staying over the weekend.
Work is continuing of the new '00' DCC layout with continued discussions
around the boards and the station platforms were dug up yet again and
a new platform is now being erected out of Plasticard and "PECO"
platform edging
On the N gauge front, our Japanese layout, "Kelninjo-Mae"
boards have been dug out from storage and are being titivated for it outing
to Kyle MRC' show in May. The layout page for this layout has been updated
to include some pictures of the layout
After "Ballochmill" was dismantled, the new test track was fully
assembled and we managed to have 1 night of test before the track was
dismantled for its 1st outing to the Troon '0' gauge meeting on the 14th
of April.
Being the first time the boards were assembled on a level floor, the boards
leveled up well and apart from a couple of tweaks to one of the hand built
points and a quick adjustment to a board joint which caused one of the
isolation sections to "vanish" due to track and board expansion
in the hall warmth, the layout ran well.
Several long passenger trains were assembled on the larger outer loops
and were pulled with a selection of "Duchesses" and other large
locos along with a GSWR double headed train and a nice blue "Caledonian"
loco with 4 pre-grouping coached.
One of the loops was changed over to run on DCC for a couple of hours
to let those with loco's fitted DCC modules to enjoy the sounds.
It will now be re-erected in the club house to provide a running track
until it is needed for the next '0' gauge meeting in May until a new continuous
run layout is constructed during 2013-14.
As before"Kirkcudbe" will continue to be stored in its rack
in the central operating space for the test track.
See our events page for full details and please keep watching
the events page for updates.
If you have been missing Peter Drummond's photos od "real" trains,
don't worry, I have been sorting through all the photos Peter has given
me and a still working out which I have used and which are still available
so I can rebuild these pages, so keep watching.
